This section is divided into four parts : school figures (to create step sequences), attitudes, spins and jumps.
Before that, it is necessary to know what an edge is. Mostly of the time, a skater skates on edge, then he draws a curve on the rink. An edge may be on the right foot or on the left foot, forward or backward and inside or outside. Skate on the inside edge imply that the skater bears right when he is on the left foot and bears left when he is on the right one. Skate on the outside edge imply that he bears right when he is on the right foot and bears left when he is on the left one. Height edges exist : RFO, RFI, RBO, RBI, LFO, LFI, LBO and LBI (R = right, L = left, F = forward, B = backward, O = outside, I = inside).
Concerning spins and jumps, we only describe edges for right-handed skaters. Left-handed skaters have to invert R with L, change the direction of rotation, but let the others things as they are.
Special thanks to Rodolphe, my skating-brother, and to Pascal Eberlin, my trainer.
